How Tobie's Trousers was born
How I became a WAHM making cloth diapers
mom (WAHM) behind Tobie's Trousers cloth diapers.
My husband and I have one son. When he was a couple months old, I thought that I would not mind using cloth diapers as long as I did not have to use pins and plastic pants. I did try it though. I would fold the prefold diaper and try to pin it without poking either one of us. I was not a big fan of this. I knew there had to be an easier way. I researched on the internet and found some helpful ideas.
Trying Department store cloth diapers
I bought some department store cloth diapers. I was excited to get them and then disappointed when I did. By this time I had managed to create a diaper of my own in between being a new mom, wife and my job at the time. I did not like how the "other" diapers fit my son and also that he would feel wet. This gave him a horrible rash. I decided that I would continue to make diapers for him. I was a maniac with buying material and researching all the different possibilities. I think my husband had thought that I had lost it many times. As I continued making diapers, I perfected my pattern and different ways of making them. I experimented with all different kinds of fabric and closure systems. I wanted my diapers to be very easy to use since my husband was not a big fan of the whole using cloth idea. So, with this in mind I needed to keep it very easy.
Tobie's Trousers are born
Everyone was telling me that I should sell my diapers. About a year later a friend of mine asked me if she could buy a couple diapers for her daughter. I was ecstatic. I made them for her and she loved them. I then thought that it might not be such a bad idea after all. It was actually great that she wanted to buy some because I could not stop making them. My son had so many diapers but I could not stop making them. I would see fabric that would scream at me to buy it and make a cute diaper. My goal for my business is to provide helpful information to people and a high quality product so you will love cloth diapers as much as I do!
My other passions
Although I love to make diapers, I do have other hobbies that I enjoy. I always enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also like to garden and do other crafts such as crocheting and scrap booking. If I do find some extra time I might be curled up with a book or taking a walk with my family.
