Information on Tobie's Trousers

Tobie’s Trousers are very trim fitting cloth diapers. They fit under most clothing just as a disposable diaper would fit. They are waterproof; therefore, you do not need an additional cover for these diapers.  This makes them very easy and user friendly.

Tobie's Trousers have three layers to them.  The first layer is a stay dry layer such as fleece.  This is next to the baby so that they will not feel wet.  Next is a hidden layer of waterproof material.  And last is the cute outside print that everyone will see.

The opening in the diaper allows you to add absorbent layers to the diaper.  (Please see the Gallery/Testimonials page to see a picture of the opening in the diaper.)  Since you will be doing this it allows you to customize the amount of absorbency that you will need for your baby depending on the time of day.  Since the absorbency layer is separate from the actual diaper, this makes the diapers quick drying and saves you even more on energy costs.  You can use any absorbent material that you prefer.  My personal favorite stuffers are microfiber towels.  You can use anything that will absorb.

The narrow wings allow for a less restrictive fit through hip and thighs, which is more comfortable for active, crawling, walking babies.

They also have an attractive finish due to the fold over elastic binding.

Tobie’s Trousers use Touch Tape to allow for a convenient, flexible fitting diaper. Laundry tabs are also added to the diapers so they will not stick together in the laundry.

Tobie's Trousers can also double as a swim diaper.  It is more cost effective to simply use a cloth diaper that you already have during the summer instead of buying the expensive throw away ones at the store.

Benefits of using cloth diapers over disposables
  • Using cloth diapers is an investment in the beginning. But it will also save you money in the long run.
  • Depending on the cloth diapering system that you find best for you the savings could be over $2,000 from birth to being potty trained.
  • Think of how great it would be not to have to make the midnight runs to the store for disposable diapers.
  • Cloth diapers can also be saved for future children or even resold. Yes, there is a huge market for used cloth diapers. I don't think anyone would want to buy a used disposable diaper.

Environmental Reasons to use cloth diapers

  • Using cloth diapers is also favorable to the environment.
  • Disposable diapers leave landfills full of an average of almost 3 tons of non-biodegradable waste each year. This does not include the waste involved in making them.
  • It states on the boxes of disposable diapers that fecal matter should be dumped into the toilet and flushed. I do not know a single parent that uses disposables that follows these instructions.  This means that the human fecal matter can contaminate ground water and spread diseases.
  • When using cloth diapers, waste is placed in the sewage system where it belongs and can be treated properly.
